Middle Eastern dance or belly
dance also known as Raqs
Sharki (Eastern dance) is one of
the oldest documented dance
forms. This art form has a long
history as a social dance as well
as a dance performed by
professional entertainers.
Middle Eastern dance uses
natural movements of the hips
and the torso to fluidly interpret
music. It is typically an
improvisational dance that freely
expresses an individual's
interpretation of music.
Laila has taught and performed
Middle Eastern dance throughout
the Philadelphia area since
2001. In August 2008, she
relocated to Kansas City,
Missouri.
